Chandrayaan 2 successfully undergoes fourth orbit raising manoeuvre

Lunar lander spacecraft Chandrayaan 2 was given its fourth orbit raise on August 2 afternoon as scheduled. With this the spacecraft goes around Earth in an elliptical orbit of 277 km x 89,472 km — having risen by over 17,000 km at the far end. “All its parameters are normal,” Indian Space Research Organisation said in an update. It will continue orbiting Earth until August 14. Meanwhile it will undergo its final orbit manoeuvre on August 6. Engineers handling the spacecraft from ISTRAC in Bengaluru raised the orbit as planned at 3.52 p.m. by firing the propulsion system on board the spacecraft for nearly 11 minutes.

President Kovind honoured with National order of Merit, highest award of Republic of Guinea

President Ram Nath Kovind has been awarded the National order of Merit by the President of Guinea for his exceptional contribution to the advancement of overall relations and development of mutual cooperation between India and Guinea and for promoting friendship and partnership between the people of both the countries. This is the highest award of Republic of Guinea.
During the award ceremony President Kovind said, the award is dedicated to people of India and Guinea for his friendship. 

11th Annual General Meeting of Indo-Lanka Chamber of Commerce & Industry held in Colombo

The 11th Annual General Meeting of the Indo-Lanka Chamber of Commerce & Industry was held in Colombo. Chief guest High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka Mr. Taranjit Singh Sandhu appreciated the contribution of Indo-Lanka Chamber towards strengthening of India- Sri Lanka bilateral relations. He noted that the cornerstone of India’s foreign policy, “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas aur Sabka Vishwas” was not just for India, but approach towards the whole world, and remains most significant in its neighbourhood.

RBI allows Bank of China to offer regular banking services in INDIA

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) allowed Bank of China to offer regular banking services in the country. Commercial banks, like SBI, HDFC Bank, Punjab National Bank and ICICI Bank, are in the Second Schedule. Banks falling under this schedule have to adhere to the norms of the RBI.The Bank of China Limited included in the Second Schedule to the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934. Bank of China is one of the four biggest state-owned commercial banks in China. Bank of China is legally separate from its subsidiary Bank of China.

Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani launches ‘Vhali Dikri Yojna’

Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has launched the ‘Vhali Dikri Yojna’ from his home town Rajkot. It is a statewide cash incentive scheme for every girl child born in Gujarat, with a view to raising the female birthrate at par with male to achieve gender equality. According to scheme, the State Government will pay Rs. 4,000 to every girl child at the time of admission to Standard 4th, Rs. 6,000 at the time of taking admission to Standard IX, Rs. 1-lakh at the time of taking admission for higher education at the age of 18 and another Rs. 1-lakh at the time of marriage. The scheme for the welfare of girl child has been launched to mark the 63th birth day of Chief Minister.

China no longer top trading partner of U.S.

As a result of their ongoing trade war, China is no longer the top trading partner of the United States and has been replaced by America’s neighbours Mexico and Canada, according to a media report. In the first half of the year, Mexico was the top trading partner of the United States followed by Canada, the latest official data reveals. As a result of the ongoing trade war between the U.S. and China, imports from China to the U.S. dropped by 12 % and America’s export to China fell by 19 %,After coming to power, Mr. Trump has imposed 25 % import tariff on chinese products worth $250 billion. Another 10 % tarrif on products worth $300 billion will come into effect on September 1. Mr. Trump has so far maintained that China has been unfair to the US. China has also taken several retaliatory steps.
